You may recognize Tyler Templeton. He’s the lead salesperson at Turf Teq and the one who helps our customers find the right pieces of snow removal and landscaping equipment for their business. What you may not know is how far back Tyler’s history with our company goes, or why his dog likes to ride along on his motorcycle.
Read on to learn more about Tyler and why he has been a driving force behind our company’s commitment to working directly with customers to help them grow their business.
How long have you been with Turf Teq?
I actually started working with the company when I was in high school and on college breaks. Back then, I worked the brake press and the assembly area. It was a great experience. Then, after getting a degree in mechanical engineering and business management, I worked in manufacturing before finding my way back to Turf Teq. I’ve been here for the past six years.
What’s your current role?
I handle all Turf Teq sales relationships and work directly with our customers as well as some select dealers. We began selling direct a little over a year ago and it’s been incredible working directly with the people using the product day in and day out.
Why has selling direct and working directly with your customers been so beneficial?
It’s added so much value to our customers’ businesses. By working directly with end user customers, we get direct feedback which is invaluable. Plus we can give the best advice and provide the most useful tips. And, we improve the after-sales service. We don’t just sell you something and move on. I’m checking in with customers regularly, making sure the product is working well and helping them do quality work and run a profitable business.
Selling direct and having a direct line of communication with our customers has taken our ability to provide great customer service to a whole new level. When a customer calls in, they’re speaking to me or to Crystal, another member of the sales team. Customers know us and we get to know them.
What do you enjoy most about running the sales efforts at Turf Teq?
I know I’m helping my customers by offering them a quality product that’s going to help them run a successful business. Now that we’re selling direct and I’m talking with and meeting my customers in person, I feel that we are connected to their success in a way we weren’t before. There’s a loyalty and commitment I feel to making sure they’re successful. That’s the most rewarding part of my job.
What are you up to when you’re not at Turf Teq?
When I’m not working I’m usually working on a number of projects, including home renovation projects or my dirt bike. I race dirt bikes in competitions with about 400 to 500 other people, so that’s pretty exciting. Otherwise, my dachshund and I are traveling on my motorcycle. He loves to ride along in my backpack.
